John,
Last night, Donald Trump gave his first address to Congress since taking office.
While the speech should have given the country an update on the state of our union, it was nothing more than lies and campaign rhetoric.
Right now, Americans are reeling from rising costs. Everyday necessities like groceries and gas are expensive. Housing costs are rising. People are picking up second jobs to help make ends meet.
Donald Trump had an opportunity to directly address the American people last night and share how he planned to solve these issues. He did none of that.
Instead, what we heard from the president were the same old attacks. He attacked Democrats for trying to hold him accountable to the Constitution and rule of law. He rambled on about diversity programs and went out of his way to discredit Social Security benefits and demonized marginalized communities. He spread falsehood after falsehood, trying his best to divide us on every issue.
This type of rhetoric is not what we needed to hear from the President of the United States, John — but I am not surprised. From these first 44 days in office, it’s clear that Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and House Republicans are more focused on advancing their self-interest than actually getting things done for our hardworking families.
The best chance we have to hold Donald Trump accountable is by taking back the House majority. Will you pitch in right now to help us set the groundwork to flip the House blue? Every donation has an impact, especially in these next 24 hours.
