1) Wait! Aren’t These the Same People Who Four Years Ago Told Us to All Unite?

The Democrats in Congress may not have liked what they heard, but normal Americans did. See this poll from CBS/YouGov:

2) Hold the Tariffs, Please

Trump delivered a "hell, yes" speech last night, but it's time to be attentive to a spooked stock market, inflation that's still too high, and GDP growth that's sputtering.

Here's our unsolicited advice to the White House about how to truly unleash a big beautiful wave of prosperity.

President Trump: Push the pro/growth tax cut message, and steer away from the tariff/protectionism riff. Canada and Mexico tariffs are bad economic news for all three countries.

We also need to always remember that the two factors that led to 40 years of relative price stability and a strong dollar were trade and technology.

Trade deficits were simply an inevitable byproduct of a strong dollar that became the world currency, as shown in the chart below from our friend Louis Woodhill.

3) …And Speed Up the Tax Cut

As our co-founder Larry Kudlow put it on his top-rated Fox Business show yesterday:

I'd like to see President Trump forcefully ask Congress, pass his tax cut and deregulation budget bills, make the tax cuts permanent, including Trump 2.0 with tax-free tips and overtime and relief for seniors.

Use the appropriate baseline scorecard that will show Trump tax cuts 1.0 actually produced huge revenues.

Hopefully, Mr. Trump will forcefully point out that people who vote against his tax cut plan will be voting in favor of at least a $4 trillion tax hike that will absolutely decimate whatever's left of the economy he inherited from Joe Biden.

Let's pass one big, beautiful bill by Memorial Day so we can have one big, beautiful blue-collar boom that will fatten wallets and unleash prosperity for all Americans.

4) Government Hiring Skyrocketed Under Biden

Trump is trying to downsize the federal workforce, as any money-losing business would do to cut costs. This has got Democrats indignant that their voters may have to get a private-sector job. Egads!

But the chart below shows why this makes sense. In Trump's first four years, an average of 8% of the jobs created were in government. Under Biden, that share doubled to 16% on average, and much higher in his last two years.

Time for a course correction.

5) Trump Admin to Trial Lawyers: Go to Zelle!

We can't say if there is any cause and effect here, but less than 24 hours after our column ([link removed]) on the absurdity of the government's lawsuit against the popular money transfer company Zelle hit the newsstands, the Trump Administration followed our advice and dismissed the suit.

Monday we suggested dropping the lawsuit:

Tuesday Trump dropped the lawsuit:

The complaint brought by Biden’s Consumer Finance Protection Bureau never made any sense . Zelle's popular and hassle-free service - used by more than 100 million Americans to electronically transfer $1 trillion last year - is provided at virtually no cost. But trial lawyers were drooling for a jackpot settlement because of a small fraction of the money lost to fraudsters. Bravo to Russ Vought - the temporary head of the CFPB - for allowing common sense to prevail.

How can a free service that keeps attracting more customers every year be anti-consumer?
