Big news, John: We are partnering with organized labor across the state to launch a grassroots campaign to make sure *EVERYONE* knows about the GOP’s plan to cut Medicaid.
It’s critically important that voters in swing seats across California know that Republicans are planning to pay for billionaire tax cuts by taking the axe to healthcare for the poorest Americans. That’s why we are launching a mobilization campaign to get the word out ASAP.
But this major awareness push wasn’t in our budget. Will you pitch in a donation right now to fund our phone-banking, social media awareness, and other grassroots pressure activities? [[link removed]]
CHIP IN $ >> [[link removed]]Here’s the deal: House Republicans who represent large numbers of Americans using Medicaid are nervous about their leaders’ plans to slash billions in funding for the lifesaving program.
That’s why we are working with organized labor to put the pressure on Republicans in vulnerable districts to NOT support this terrible plan. And according to Politico’s reporting, this work might already be paying off!
“Rep. Valadao’s central California district is perennially in play — Valadao is in his sixth term but lost one in the middle — and more than 3 in 5 of his constituents, more than 470,000 people, rely on Medicaid, according to NYU Langone Health’s estimate.
He was among six Republican representatives and two territorial delegates who recently signed a letter to Speaker Mike Johnson warning that ‘slashing Medicaid would have serious consequences, particularly in rural and predominantly Hispanic communities.’”
That’s why we need to keep the heat turned up, John. We have big plans to make phone calls and reach voters in key districts about this. But our budget for this type of pressure campaign is very limited. That’s why we are reaching out:
Will you rush a donation of $ or more to our special fund for keeping up our grassroots pressure campaign? We are on track to stop this Republican plot to destroy Medicaid, but need your help! [[link removed]]
