John, Michelle at Save the Children here. I wanted to make sure you saw Janti’s email the other day. Government funding cuts and slashes to humanitarian assistance budgets have forced us to immediately stop lifesaving work in many places around the world.
Without urgent action, the consequences will be catastrophic. We’re already witnessing deteriorating conditions for children in Syria, Sudan, Gaza and Ukraine. What we’ve seen from our colleagues in these regions is horrific; it’s clear children are dying.
Your gift today will help keep lifesaving aid flowing for children facing conflict, hunger and malnutrition, disease and disaster across the globe. You can donate here: support.savethechildren.org/site/donation2
As a parent, I cannot begin to fathom the life-altering hardship and pain families are facing right now. Hearing the hungry cries of a child without food. Not having a safe place to shelter. Not being able to get medicine for your sick child. Families should not have to endure this agony. When adults fight, it’s always children who suffer. As adults, we must agree that we will not accept this.
Save the Children is determined to uphold our 100-year legacy of shielding children from harm — particularly in the hardest-to-reach places where it’s toughest to be a child.
But your support is critical. Every child deserves a future.
This is urgent, John. Around the world, lifesaving work has stopped in an instant due to cuts in U.S. aid funding.
What’s happening is unacceptable. It’s a betrayal to kids trying to survive conflict, hunger and disaster.
Almost 90% of U.S. foreign aid contracts have been cut. This means children will go hungry, arrive at shuttered clinics, face forced labor from school closures, lose safety and protection and suffer unimaginable trauma.
Most urgently, these cuts are putting 170 million children’s lives at risk. Yes, you read that right. That’s 1 in 11 children globally who rely on humanitarian assistance.
The funding gaps we’re now facing will force us to abruptly close down programs that are essential to children’s survival. Without additional funding, in just one month:
463 health facilities that provide lifesaving health care to children across the world will close.
Children’s access to safe water and sanitation facilities will stop across 10 countries.
Child protection and mental health support will come to an end in 13 countries.
John, we’ve never needed your support more than right now. This is real. This is happening now. I’m personally asking you to help ensure we can continue to deliver the lifesaving support children need. Rush your gift today. >>
