Email from Rep. Mann CongressMann Mail 03.04.2025 Message from Rep. Tracey Mann. Having Trouble Viewing? Click Here. Fellow Kansan, Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter. I am in Washington, D.C. for another week of committee hearings, floor activity, and votes. Tonight, I will also attend President Trump's Joint Address to Congress. For more information on what I'm working on this week, be sure to follow me on social media. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America— I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That’s what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come. Yours in service, Click below to follow me on social media. Mann.House.Gov The Week Ahead This week, the U.S. House of Representatives is in session for a week of legislative activity and President Trump’s Joint Address to Congress. Yesterday, I led the House in passing a resolution in remembrance of those who passed in the crash of American Airlines Flight 5342 and PAT 25. Although there is still a lot to uncover regarding the January 25th crash out of Wichita, the measure was one small way Congress wanted to honor the memory of the 67 lives lost and to ensure they will never be forgotten. I also chaired today's House Agriculture Committee's Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry hearing this morning to hear first hand from America’s livestock, dairy, and poultry producers about what farm policy is working for them and what should be reconsidered. Tonight, I will join Members of Congress, the Supreme Court of the United States, and President Trump’s Cabinet to hear his Joint Address to Congress. In the 43 days since President Trump took office, he has done more to protect our country and get our nation back on track than President Biden did in four years. He is delivering and keeping the promises he made to the American people, and I am incredibly grateful for his leadership of our country. I look forward to hearing President Trump’s address later tonight and hope you’ll join me in listening to his vision for the country. Later this week, the House will consider more legislation to roll back Biden-era rules that harm America’s energy producers, consumers, and our American energy independence. Because of President Biden’s Green New Deal policies, American families saw a nearly 20% increase on the cost of energy. House Republicans are delivering on our promise to reduce energy prices and advance an all of the above energy approach that keeps America energy independent. Click Here to Tune In Summer Internship Applications are Still Open! My first job on Capitol Hill was an internship with a Kansas congressman. Every year, I offer the same experience to students across the Big First. Working in Congress is a unique opportunity for students to learn about the impacts of public policy, the role congressional offices play in helping Americans on a daily basis, and to learn about the legislative process. The application for summer internships in my office is open, and the deadline to apply is this Friday, March 7, 2025. If you know a college student who would benefit from an internship in my office, encourage them to apply today. Internship Application Honoring Kansas Ag Heroes For nearly 100 years, the National FFA Organization has helped America’s youth develop agricultural leadership skills, increase awareness of the global importance of agriculture, promote agricultural careers, and encourage achievement in agricultural experiences and communities. Today, the Kansas FFA state leadership team continues to embody these values by equipping the next generation of leaders who will change the world. For the state officer team, the blue jacket represents something bigger than themselves. It signifies their role in a legacy of service and leadership and a dedication to strengthening the future of Kansas food and agriculture. Over the past year, they have traveled the state facilitating workshops, mentoring younger students, and ensuring FFA members have the resources, skills, and motivation necessary to grow. You can read more about the Kansas FFA State Officer team and why they are our February Ag Hero below. February Ag Heroes Remembering Those Lost on AA Flight 5342 Yesterday, I led the U.S. House of Representatives in passing House Resolution 153, which expresses condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of the victims of the crash of American Flight 5342. As Audrey and I express our deepest condolences and prayers, we join our beloved Kansas and nation in mourning the lives lost. January 29 is typically a day Kansans come together to celebrate the rich history of Kansas and the anniversary of our statehood. January 29, 2025 changed the meaning of this day for Kansans forever. We will remember our fellow Americans whose lives were tragically lost—farmers, parents, professors, college students with bright futures, taken from us far too soon. We must continue to strive to learn as much as we can about this accident, so this never happens again. Kansas is the heartbeat of the country, and as our state motto reminds us, we will persevere, together, through this difficult time. Click Here to Watch my Remarks Recognizing President Trump and Secretary Rollins' Decisive Leadership When President Biden botched his response to the HPAI problem, he also lost the trust of our trading partners, forced American families to pay more for eggs and other goods at the grocery store, and made America less safe. President Trump and Secretary Rollins are providing a new direction in their decisive actions to provide overdue relief for America’s poultry and dairy producers and all consumers. Last week, President Trump and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins released their five-step plan to combat the Highly-Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) and skyrocketing egg prices. As the representative in Congress for part of the animal health corridor, which leads the U.S. in world renown research and development, I am confident in President Trump’s direction to protect our food supply and limit animal disease outbreaks. Thank you, President Trump and Secretary Rollins, for your dedication to keeping Americans safe. Combatting the HPAI Outbreak Unlocking President Trump's Legislative Agenda On November 5, 2024 the country gave Washington, D.C. a definitive mandate to secure the border, invest in our national defense, cut taxes, and end federal waste, fraud, and abuse. That's why I voted to advance H. Con Res 14, which is the first step to unlock President Trump's full legislative agenda. Americans voted for commonsense leadership in Washington, and we are working hard in the U.S. House of Representatives to fulfill that promise. I made a commitment to the Big First District to support President Trump’s policies that they overwhelmingly voted for in November. My vote honors that promise, cuts taxes, and invests in all Americans. Saving Taxpayer Dollars Meetings in the Office Kansas State Student Governing Association Last week, I welcomed the Kansas State Student Governing Association to the U.S. Capitol to learn more about their initiatives and legislation they support in the U.S. Congress. As a past member of SGA and former Student Body President at K-State, my involvement taught me the importance of listening to different viewpoints and representing people of all backgrounds, values, and beliefs. These student leaders are making a lasting impact in Manhattan and beyond in their current roles, and I look forward to seeing the bright futures they have ahead of them. Thanks for all you do for the Wildcat community! Council on Agriculture Research, Extension, and Teaching I met with the Council on Agriculture Research, Extension, and Teaching (CARET) to discuss how we can best equip land grant universities to train the next generation of those who will feed, clothe, and fuel the world. Land grant colleges and universities lead the nation in essential, cutting-edge research that supports food security across the globe. The innovation these schools provide the agricultural community is unmatched, and I appreciated hearing how Congress can support them and their contributions to our country. Thanks for all you do for Kansas, CARET. Kansas National Guard The freedoms we enjoy as Americans are not free. Our men and women in uniform work day in and day out to protect those freedoms, and I am deeply grateful for their service. The Kansas National Guard has tirelessly fought for the safety and liberty of Kansans for over 150 years. Last week, I met with their leadership to discuss how Congress can best support our brave men and women in uniform. We also spoke about the importance of programs that ensure our Guard members have access to adequate resources and a good quality of life. Thank you, Kansas National Guard, for all you do to protect the freedoms Kansans enjoy every day. America's Cotton Marketing Cooperatives America's Cotton Marketing Cooperatives (AMCOT) is an association of cooperatives working on behalf of American cotton producers. During our meeting, we spoke about the importance of a five-year Farm Bill that provides certainty and rolls back burdensome Biden-era regulations that handcuff our producers. America’s farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers have been clear—they need a Farm Bill, and they need it now. I will not stop fighting for a fiscally conservative Farm Bill that promotes sound farm and food policy and stewards taxpayer dollars wisely. Thank you, AMCOT for all you do for family cotton farmers in Kansas and the country. Agricultural Retailers Association Last week, I met with the leadership of the Agricultural Retailers Association. We discussed the importance of a strong agricultural safety net. We also spoke about the importance of extending President Trump's tax cuts, which served as a lifeline for rural communities that saw new investments for business and jobs under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Thank you, Agricultural Retailers Association, for all you do to support rural America and Kansas' farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers. AIPAC Israel is our strongest ally in the Middle East, and we must be clear—the U.S. stands with Israel. Last week, I met with AIPAC to discuss ongoing threats to Israel and the life-saving role that U.S. security assistance plays in protecting our Israeli neighbors and friends. Audrey and I continue to pray for Israel, the recently released hostages, and the families whose loved ones never made it out of captivity. I am proud to stand with Israel and look forward to working with the Trump Administration to continue to strengthen the relationship between Israel and America. Kansas Municipal Utilities Kansas Municipal Utilities is the only state association dedicated exclusively to municipal utilities across Kansas. During their time in Washington, D.C., we spoke about the future of Kansas utilities and how supply chain issues are affecting prices and reliability of utilities in our state. We also discussed the workforce training programs they offer to educate Kansans working in the municipal space and recent updates regarding their training facility in McPherson. Thanks for meeting with me! American Legion The American Legion is the largest U.S. veterans organization in our country. I met with members from Kansas to discuss the importance of ensuring the VA has resources to serve our veterans effectively and ways Congress can assist in the transition for our servicemen and women to life after the military. We are forever indebted to the brave men and women who put their lives on the line for our everyday freedoms. Thank you, American Legion, for all of your hard work! University of Kansas Student Senate I met with the University of Kansas Student Senate last week during their trip to the U.S. Capitol. We spoke at length about college affordability and the importance of ensuring college students have a pathway to employment when they finish college. As a former member of my university’s SGA, I always enjoy meeting with student leaders and hearing about their leadership experiences on their college campuses. Thank you, KU Senate leaders for all you do! Sustainable Aviation Fuel Coalition Sustainable aviation fuel is a breakthrough innovation that turns crops like corn and soybeans into an alternative to traditional jet fuels. Last week, I met with the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Coalition, a group working to increase private sector investments into these fuel alternatives. We discussed the role Kansas farmers can have in shaping the future of aviation fuel, and how we can incentivize the implementation of sustainable fuel options in the aviation space. The use of sustainable fuel is growing rapidly around the country, and it is crucial that Kansas farmers are at the forefront of this revolution. Thanks for stopping by SAF Coalition!
