John, President Trump just revealed the latest target for his and Elon Musk’s hostile takeover: your Social Security.

That’s right – President Trump is spreading lies and threatening to remove people who “shouldn’t be on” Social Security. [2] But this time it might not be just talk, since Elon Musk and his team have seized direct access to how the U.S. Treasury makes payments – including Social Security. [3]

I want to be perfectly clear: if you’re a current Social Security recipient, you don’t need to panic – all payments are still going out as scheduled.

But Trump and Musk are using a tried-and-true playbook: first, get people scared about something that isn’t happening (i.e., undocumented people who don't even have Social Security numbers getting checks) then use that fear as a battering ram to slash services and get rich at our expense.

John, over the past couple of weeks, President Trump has allowed Elon Musk and his cronies to launch a hostile takeover of key government functions.

And we all pay the price when that happens – because this unelected billionaire is coming after lifesaving medical research, food safety inspections, environmental protections, and now, even Social Security.

Musk warned that his cuts to crucial programs would cause “temporary hardship” for everyday Americans [4] – and it seems that time is now. After gutting USAID, he and his made-up “DOGE” are reportedly shifting their focus and targeting our Social Security benefits. [5]

Let’s be clear: Undocumented immigrants cannot access Social Security benefits – and actually pay billions of dollars into the system every year without ever seeing a dime in return. [6]

Musk and Trump are using these lies to distract from their true goal: slashing public services in order to line the pockets of their fellow billionaires.

Here’s the bottom line: if our members of Congress allow any attack on Social Security to go unaddressed, then right-wing billionaires like Musk – who've hoped for years to get rid of anything that doesn’t make them richer – will use that foot in the door to unravel our entire safety net.
