It’s been 6 weeks since Donald Trump returned to the White House, and tonight he’ll address the House and Senate for the first time in his second term.
The sheer number of bad decisions he’s made so far have been tough to keep up with. I know it's hard to keep track, but we can't let any of this go unnoticed.
He fired thousands of Americans without cause, many of them veterans. He let an unelected billionaire slash funding for medical research, disaster relief, public health, public safety, veterans care, and many programs you rely on. All with no analysis, no discussion, and no plan.
This week Trump is firing IRS agents and closing IRS offices to protect rich people from being audited, while you’ll be left on hold if you have questions about your taxes.
Trump is doing these things so he can get Congress to deliver a budget to his desk that will dramatically cut taxes once again for rich people — adding trillions of dollars to the debt. That budget will also kick working people, seniors, or both, off their health care.
Trump has implemented tariffs that will cost you money and plans to add more without understanding (or lying about) how tariffs work. These tariffs WILL cost you and your family money on everything from groceries to housing.
He’s launched meme crypto coins under his name and his wife’s that put tens of millions of more dollars in his pockets but decimated the finances of many of his supporters. He doesn’t care, but I do.
Trump has fired the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Chief of Naval Operations — both decorated, deserving public servants. He didn’t say why but I think I know — one is Black and the other is a woman.
Donald Trump will no longer acknowledge that Russia invaded Ukraine and he has walked away from an 80-year-old alliance that has kept us safe and is now aligning us with a murderous war criminal in Vladimir Putin.
Trump has installed a Fox News TV personality to run the Department of Defense and a vaccine skeptic to run our health systems. Make no mistake, you and your family are less safe because of this. Our nation is poorer and at risk because of his inability to competently govern.
He's found time to do all of this and still has done nothing to lower the price of eggs...
This is not who we are as a nation and this is not normal, but Trump is only getting started. What matters is what we do next. I will be doing everything in my power as a United States Senator to defend the working- and middle-class families who will be most impacted by the Trump Administration.
Speak out. Get involved in your community. But please, don’t sit by. No action is too small, and we need everyone doing what they can.
