We have just over 24 hours left until our public May end-of-month fundraising deadline, and I hope I can count on a $5 contribution from you today to help us reach our $6 million online fundraising goal.

Now, let me take a step back in this email and explain why May is a lot different than the past couple of months, and why it's so important we reach our goal by tomorrow night.

In March and April, our mission was to make a strong statement that no matter what circumstances surround us, we are building a movement in this battle for the soul of the nation. And that's why we set goals both months to bring in 100,000 donations of any amount. Thanks to all of you, we safely reached these goals, and we sent a crystal-clear message.

But now, Joe Biden is the presumptive Democratic nominee, and we're closing in on the end of the first full month of the general election. Look, as the boss likes to say, it's "go time." We have a lot of hiring to do next month, and we have to compete with Donald Trump and Republicans' spending on the airwaves.

So we set a goal to raise $6 million online by Sunday night, and yes, it's an incredibly ambitious online fundraising goal.

Grassroots supporters like you have fueled this campaign since the day we launched, and make up a majority of our contributions. Our average online donation in April was just $32, so even though we're switching gears with our goal and working towards an exact dollar amount this month, we'll still need a whole lot of individual donations to reach it.

Please, can I count on you for $5 before tomorrow night's deadline strikes? It looks like you haven't made a contribution yet, and while I know it's a very hard time to donate, if you can dig deep and pitch in that first $5 it will go a long way to elect Joe Biden and defeat Donald Trump »
