Elon Musk just attacked me and several of my Democratic colleagues for holding Donald Trump accountable, John. Here’s what happened:
On the campaign trail, Donald Trump promised to lower costs on day one of his presidency. Six weeks into his second term, he hasn’t lifted a finger to address the cost of living for working families.
My colleagues and I wanted to make sure the American people heard this message before Trump’s speech tonight, so we posted a video on X calling out Trump’s lies on the economy.
Elon didn’t like that very much. Since then, he’s sent multiple tweets to his millions of followers attacking me and other Senators for the simple crime of telling the truth.
That’s right, John: Elon has spent the last several hours coming after me for letting the American people know what Trump and the GOP have done to address rising costs — which happens to be nothing.
Since day one of Donald Trump’s presidency, prices have gone up, not down. Inflation is getting worse, not better. The prices of housing, groceries, eggs, and gas are all getting more expensive.
Instead of working to lower prices for New Jerseyans, Trump has:
- Pardoned violent criminals who beat police officers on January 6
- Let Elon take a chainsaw to critical government programs for Americans
- Give Elon access to sensitive data like your tax returns and social security numbers
- Fired thousands of essential government employees
- Frozen federal funding for vital programs like cancer research and payments to family farmers
The Republican plan is simple: You lose, and billionaires win.
I will never stop calling out Trump and Elon’s plans to cut critical services for you to make room for more tax cuts for billionaires like them.
