A mantra I’ve applied to many things in my life—from running three competitive Congressional campaigns and taking on incompetent Trump officials, to getting my kids to clean their rooms and walking our dog Poppy—is that we can do hard things.
I’ve instilled this lesson with Poppy, who’s been recognizing that she can do hard things, like making it around the whole block on her walk.
No matter how big or small our challenges are, the path forward is the same. What it takes is putting one foot (or paw!) in front of the other.
I know it’s demoralizing when the Trump Administration finds new ways every day to attack working families and chip away at our democracy. But, we can either doom scroll social media, or we can do something about it.
We are tough enough, so let’s get to work.
