Hi Friend,
Maryland renters are at risk. Right now, landlords can refuse to renew leases for any reason—or no reason at all—forcing families out of their homes with no protections. The Good Cause Eviction bill is designed to change that, but an amendment threatens to gut these protections by undermining rent stabilization.
If this amendment passes, landlords could exploit loopholes, displacing renters and driving up housing costs. This would undo hard-fought wins in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties, where rent stabilization with vacancy control is already in place. We cannot let that happen.
Senator Will Smith and the Judicial Proceedings Committee must hear from us loud and clear: Pass a CLEAN Good Cause Eviction Bill—no harmful amendments!
Take action now. Use our easy tool to send a quick email and demand full protections for Maryland renters. |
We are also going to make sure that our Senators' phones are ringing off the hook all day tomorrow, and we need your help! Sign up for a slot to make calls. Together, we can protect renters from unjust evictions and ensure housing stability across the state. In solidarity, Progressive Maryland |
