John,
Trump and his administration can’t stop exploiting the deadly coronavirus crisis for narrow political gain. Now they’re trying to rush through a plan to ramp up fracking on public lands close to Chaco Canyon National Historical Park, many of which are in or near the Navajo Nation.
Trump's Bureau of Land Management (BLM) recently introduced a plan to drill more than 3,000 oil and gas wells in the Greater Chaco region of northwestern New Mexico.
This region includes the most sweeping collection of ancient ruins in the U.S., and the park preserves one of the most important indigenous cultural and historical areas in the United States.
Desecrating these lands with fracking and mining is simply horrifying. We must not let it happen.
Please donate now to help save precious national monuments like Chaco Canyon from drilling, fracking and mining!

We will not stand by and let Trump destroy these sacred places. We know when we focus attention and the power of your voice, we can force Trump and his cronies to back down.
Because we raised our voices in protest, on Thursday of last week Interior Secretary David Bernhardt was forced to extend the comment period for the dangerous draft plan for the Greater Chaco region by another 120 days.
This is just a first step, but it wouldn’t have happened without your support!
More than 12,000 Food & Water Action supporters emailed Bernhardt demanding that he stop silencing indigenous voices during the coronavirus pandemic and develop a land management plan that doesn’t lock the region into decades of continued pollution from fossil fuel extraction.
Food & Water Action is using all available tools — from legal to legislative to grassroots organizing — to stop Trump from harming more precious national monuments like Chaco Canyon. And because the comment period has been extended, we must double our efforts now to make sure they hear our demands.

Trump and the fossil fuel industry’s reckless disrespect for indigenous peoples, public health, and these natural and historical treasures is sickening. Their latest scheme threatens to further sacrifice the region’s cultural integrity, endanger communities, and poisons our air, water and climate.
Now is the time for us to demand that Trump and his cronies scrap their disastrous plan, and prioritize human health and environmental justice. We need you on our side to keep winning this fight.
Please donate today to help protect the Greater Chaco Canyon from Big Oil and Gas.
