Hey John,

The last month has been dizzying. The Trump White House has launched a comprehensive effort to deport millions of undocumented people, including children. Further infuriating, the administration is attacking our trans and gender nonconforming friends’ employment, ability to identify their gender on legal documentation, and access to government programs like public housing. Alongside these attacks, unelected billionaire Elon Musk has begun to dismantle the nation’s social safety net and fire hundreds of thousands of federal workers.

As congressional budget reconciliation approaches, the GOP is pushing to cut Medicaid and SNAP benefits, shrink the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) budget, reduce Section 8 Housing vouchers, and expand trillions of dollars of tax breaks for the wealthiest in what’s being called a “Reverse Robin Hood scam”.

Check out RTTC member Tani’ya Rogers speak to how we are building a united & powerful housing movement [[link removed]]

They’re clear on their agenda, but so are we. Working people across the country are rejecting the Trump agenda.Thousands of federal workers are surging into unions [[link removed]] and rallying to protect essential services in the face of cuts led by unelected Elon Musk. RTTC is working with our allies at the Alliance for Housing Justice to push back against cuts to the Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). And last week, our members traveled from NY, CA, and TN to join our partner People’s Action in DC to denounce the billionaire theft of funds meant for working people.

In troubling moments like these, we are encouraged by the powerful work our members, and our movements, are doing across the country. With strong and popular demands [[link removed]] for rent control [[link removed]] , social housing, and dignified and permanent housing affordability, we know that housing justice stands to play a critical role in beating back the MAGA agenda.

See you in the streets,

Kamau, Matt and the Right to the City Alliance team
