Friend,

Every day for over a month, there seems to be a new story about DOGE cuts, and entire government departments going up in smoke. With all of the other chaos this administration is unleashing, it’s easy to lose sight of the real people being affected.

But we must keep our focus, and see the people being directly hurt by the runaway, unaccountable monster of DOGE.

With that in mind, I’d like to speak about my guest for tonight’s Trump address to Congress.

His name is James Diaz. His story is one that needs to be heard.

James lives in the district in the lovely town of Monmouth, and has lived here since he was a teenager. After having proudly served our nation during the Gulf Wars, where he picked up a permanent physical disability, James continued serving our nation upon returning home – going from a military uniform to public service in our government.

He was recently promoted to a new position within the IRS, which meant he was technically a probationary employee, and DOGE used that moment on probation to fire him, and everyone else listed as probationary, regardless of performance or circumstance.

Think about that, friend. He was promoted for doing great work, and Elon and Trump used that opportunity to fire him.

It is unacceptable that anyone who’s sacrificed so much to be treated so small. This is a man who’s given more to our country than anyone involved with this administration EVER has.

Look, I want to save taxpayers from waste as much as anyone. We Midwesterners know a thing or two about smart budgeting. But this? This isn’t it. This is taking a chainsaw to critical services and real lives without any thought or plan.

We owe our veterans so much more. We owe our public servants so much more.

I am honored to have James as my guest for the State of the Union. And over these next two years, I am fighting every day to restore the dignity of our veterans, and push back against the worst decisions of the Trump administration.

With your help, we can keep this attack on our patriots to two years. If you’re able, please chip in $3 today to help ensure we can restore work for James, his friends, and everyone who’s sacrificed for our country.
