Today, VoteVets is bringing half a dozen Veterans to the Capitol. Each of them have either been fired or are soon to be impacted by Elon Musk, DOGE, and the GOP as they cleave off huge swaths of the federal government to enrich themselves.

The goal is to prime everyone — Republicans in Washington, our allies, the press, and the American people — ahead of Trump’s Joint Address to Congress tonight. We are going to make the fallout of his administration’s reckless actions impossible to ignore, and we’re going to do it by telling the stories of the people who are suffering the most.

30% of the federal government are Veterans. By initial estimates, approximately 6000 Veterans have already been fired by Donald Trump. They’ve fired more Veterans than any administration in our lifetime. More will lose their jobs soon if they’re allowed to continue, and Republicans in Congress are letting it happen.

Beyond just those direct cuts and impacts, Veteran owned businesses are some of the federal government’s primary contractors. When Trump and Musk illegally cancel federal grants, loans, and programs they are also directly impacting those Veteran owned businesses.

Across the country, hundreds of thousands of Veterans are living in fear. These are men and women who devoted their lives to service in and out of uniform. They are among the best of us, and those most dedicated to this country. Donald Trump and Elon Musk are destroying everything they worked for.

Trump and Elon are ruining these Veterans’ lives, destroying the federal government's ability to serve the public, crashing the economy — and they’re proud of it. We’re a joke to them, but they’re the only ones laughing.

That’s why sharing these stories is so, so important right now.

VoteVets is going to continue gathering and sharing them. We are going to continue working publicly and behind the scenes to defend Veterans, the VA, and our National Security. We are going to work around the clock to defeat the Republicans who are enabling this.
