Dear Comrade,

Our hearts are tired and heavy this week in the wake of the murder of George Floyd and the recent murders of our Black brothers and sisters Tony McDade, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Atatiana Jefferson, and countless precious, beautiful others. We are writing to you with deep, endless sorrow. We are also writing with profound admiration and love for the courageous people of Minneapolis, St. Paul, and cities across the country who have put their bodies on the line, taken their streets back from the police, and gone above and beyond to care for one another. The power of the people and their righteous anger in this moment is unshakeable. It is urgent that we follow the example of our brave comrades in the Twin Cities, who need our solidarity.

If you are looking for ways to get involved or support the work of those fighting racism on the ground in Minneapolis, we have several suggestions:

Support and Participate in Denver Action

  • Monetary and other solidarity for those in Denver who have faced criminal charges and need bail for protesting over the last few days. You can donate here.

  • Demand the officers who killed George Floyd are charged with murder with Color of Change.

  • Help the Black Vision Collective defund the Minneapolis Police Department.

Lastly, we hope everyone will create space this weekend for mourning and feelings of grief. While this pandemic has forced our physical distance, it has also shown that if we don’t care for each other no one will. We are honored to be in community with each and every one of you now more than ever, and we’d like to open a communal space to grieve.

We will be having a zoom call to mourn George and those whose lives have been cut short on Tuesday, June 2 at 7pm.
