Trump Declares Smackdown on Public Education

If you thought Trump’s cabinet picks couldn’t get any more absurd, think again—because last night, WWE executive-turned-MAGA-megadonor Linda McMahon was confirmed as Secretary of Education.

Yes, you read that right. The same Linda McMahon who spent years running World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) —where she staged fake fights for a living —is now gearing up to body slam public education. And it’s not because she has any qualifications for the job. Nope—Trump himself admitted he picked her because he hopes she’ll “put herself out of a job” by abolishing the Department of Education altogether.

If that sounds like a steel chair to the face of public schools, that’s because it is.

Trump and his radical Project 2025 plan are out to eliminate the Department of Education, gut funding for our schools, and even fire nearly 500,000 teachers. Meanwhile, McMahon—who previously oversaw a disastrous small business rescue program that fumbled aid for struggling businesses—is ready to suplex public education into the ground.

And embarrassingly, Superintendent Ryan Walters is cheering on like a gleeful child from the sidelines encouraging this demolition of the services and infrastructure our students need.
