John — Tonight, Trump will address Congress for the first time since reclaiming the presidency.
While not officially a State of the Union address, for all intents and purposes, it will serve as one. Before he begins spewing lies and MAGA propaganda, I’ll make something clear: The state of our Union has never been more vulnerable.
Since taking office, Trump has waged an all-out assault on our democracy. He’s abused power at every turn — bypassing Congress, gutting government agencies, and ignoring the checks and balances that keep our country free. He’s abandoned our closest allies while cozying up to Putin, dismantled decades of foreign policy to serve his own interests, and imposed reckless tariffs that will drive up costs for working families.
And his MAGA extremists in Congress? They’ve wasted no time passing dangerous legislation that slashes billions from Medicaid — lifesaving care for the most vulnerable — so they can bankroll tax cuts for the ultra-rich, including Trump himself and his billionaire buddies like Elon Musk.
Trump will try to paint a different picture tonight. He’ll distort reality and claim he’s making America strong. But the truth is clear: he is making our country weaker.
We cannot let his lies go unchallenged. We must show Trump and his enablers that Democrats are not backing down. We will not let them dismantle our democracy.
