Right now, LGBTQ+ youth are stepping up—creating the spaces, support systems, and initiatives they need to thrive in a world that too often tries to erase them.

But they can’t do it alone.

That’s why we’re launching It Gets Better: Changemakers [[link removed]], a program that provides LGBTQ+ young people with the resources and mentorship they need to take action in their schools, communities, faith groups and more.

Since 2022, we've awarded over $1.3 million in 142 youth-led projects like gender-affirming clothing closets, LGBTQ+ youth conferences, Pride celebrations, and community art projects through 50 States. 50 Grants. It Gets Better: Changemakers is an evolution of that program, expanding beyond schools to ensure young leaders have the funding and mentorship to create change in the spaces where they see the greatest need.

✔️ In Idaho, grantees defied harmful state laws by working with a librarian to turn part of their school library into an LGBTQ+ safe space.

✔️ In South Dakota, students refused to let school administrators block their mural project. They partnered with local artists, created a mural downtown, and earned top honors in USA Today’s Reader’s Choice survey [[link removed]] for public art.

✔️ In Florida, where "Don’t Say Gay" policies attempt to silence them, students filmed a series of videos on sexual health and LGBTQ+ issues to be shared with GSAs across the state.
