** Port Talbot Jobs Fair
------------------------------------------------------------

It was brilliant to see so many people and so many potential employers at the Jobs Fair this month which was organised by Community union & NPT Employability.

The first floor of the Aberafan Shopping Centre was packed with a wide range of businesses and advice providers, ready to support job seekers on their journey into new opportunities.

Congrats to Community and NPT Employability, on a really high impact & successful day.

** Maesteg Job Centre
------------------------------------------------------------

It was a pleasure to visit Maesteg Job Centre recently, to hear about all of the work they are doing to provide help and support to our local community

The staff are on hand via booked appointments and walk ins and have dedicated work coaches to provide specialised support for those with physical and mental health issues. They work directly to remove the barriers to employment and they're seeing some really positive results.

** Bus Trip to Parliament
------------------------------------------------------------

It was lovely to welcome a bus full of Aberafan Maesteg constituents to Parliament.

They had a guided tour of the Palace of Westminster, access to the viewing gallery to watch a debate in the chamber, and a catch-up in Westminster Hall with their local MP!

It was great to have so many constituents join me ‘at the office’, and I got the distinct impression that they’d all enjoyed the day thoroughly.

Thanks to Ridgways Coaches for getting everyone there and back safely.

** Trefelin BGC
------------------------------------------------------------

Great to be at Trefelin BGC, to celebrate the official opening of the Ynys Park 3G Training Facility.

This top notch all-weather pitch has been financially supported by a range of partners, including the UK Labour government. Brilliant for the community, brilliant for health and well-being!

It was great to score a very lucky penalty against Swans legend Lee Trundle!

** Sandfields Pharmacy
------------------------------------------------------------

I was pleased to visit Sandfields Pharmacy this month.

Chris, Susannah and the team do a fantastic job of running this local pharmacy, providing a range of important services to our local community!

I congratulate the entire team on the wonderful role they play in Sandfields.

** Pyle Coffee Morning
------------------------------------------------------------

It was great to hold a coffee morning in Pyle this month, and spend a Saturday morning at Family Breakfast Pyle with Cllr Huw David and Cllr Jane Gebbie.

We were busy chatting with residents about a range of topics including local bus services, housing and community support projects.
Many thanks to Pyle Family Breakfast Club for hosting us.

** Visit to Wernick Group
------------------------------------------------------------

It was absolutely fantastic to pay a visit to Wernick Group last week to hear about the expansion the company is going through. Wernick is a family business and I am so pleased to see them thriving. I enjoyed taking a look at their new state of the art equipment (including one of the biggest cranes in the UK!)

Wernick specialise in modular buildings and go to great lengths to ensure they are of high quality. I enjoyed seeing how they insulate, make the buildings firesafe and learning about the sustainable choices they are making.

It was especially heartening to get some insight into their work to provide modular buildings for the workforce that will construct the electric arc furnace. I have long been banging the drum that the construction of the EAF must include Welsh materials and create work for local companies, so I am thrilled that Wernick are creating the accommodation for the workforce - especially as they are right on the doorstep of the steelworks!

** National Grid Distribution
------------------------------------------------------------

I met with National Grid Distribution to discuss the work they are doing in Aberafan Maesteg to speed up connections to the grid for homes and businesses.

It was good to discuss the work they'd done to connect businesses in the Baglan Energy Park.

** Specsavers Maesteg
------------------------------------------------------------

It was fantastic to visit Specsavers in Maesteg to hear about the range of services they provide to local residents.

They offer more than just eye tests and glasses, they provide urgent eye care, low vision services, monitoring and referral filtering services for Glaucoma and medical retina eye conditions, and independent prescribing service.
