Take a deep breath, John. Yes, things are chaotic. Yes, it seems like Trump is trying to bulldoze everything in his path. But if you only take one thing away from this email, let it be this: Even in the darkest moments, grassroots power is making a difference.

Before we break it all down, can we count on you to chip in a few dollars to help elect climate champions and defend our progress? [[link removed]]

FIRST:

Grassroots supporters like you helped us elect nearly 100 climate champions in high-stakes races across the country in 2024. Some by just a handful of votes. And now, those leaders are holding the line in state legislatures, city councils, and county commissions. They’re stopping Trump’s extremist allies from tearing apart our communities.

THEN:

We proved our power in the first big test of Trump’s presidency. Two consequential special elections — one in Minnesota, one in Virginia — sent a clear message: We’re not backing down.

✅ Kannan Srinivasan’s victory kept the Virginia Senate in pro-climate hands and slammed the door shut on Trump-backed Republicans who wanted to gut clean energy progress.

✅ And Doron Clark’s win in Minnesota restored the DFL’s narrow majority in the State Senate — paving the way for continued progress toward the state’s ambitious climate goals.

AND NOW:

Our endorsed leaders are showing up where it matters most.

👉 In Virginia, Democrats wasted no time using their majority to push constitutional amendments protecting voting rights, marriage equality, and abortion access — exactly the kind of policies Republicans wanted to destroy.

👉 In Congress, Rep. Greg Casar fought back against the GOP’s efforts to undermine essential social services, right in the middle of their own hearing. While Republicans used the DOGE Subcommittee to attack Social Security and working families, Casar flipped the script and exposed the real issue: Elon Musk’s companies quietly receiving billions in taxpayer money while the GOP scrutinizes meager payments to people who depend on government support.

👉 And last month, our endorsed leaders took to the streets. Reps. Maxwell Frost, Jasmine Crockett, and Sydney Kamlager-Dove joined hundreds of protesters outside the Treasury Department to demand answers after Trump handed Musk and his unelected team of inexperienced youths access to government financial systems. While Republicans — and even some Democrats — stayed silent, they stepped up.

This is what resistance looks like. This is how we fight back. But to keep this movement growing strong, we need to keep electing leaders who refuse to back down.

With over 100,000 down-ballot seats up for election this year, the smallest victories will add up. We can’t afford to sit out. We need every ounce of grassroots power to stop them. Can you chip in today to help us elect more climate champions and build the strongest possible firewall against the chaos in Washington? [[link removed]]
