I wanted to reach out with two important updates for you all today.
First, thank you to those of you who donated to help us hit our end-of-month deadline. With your support, we’re staying on track with our organizing efforts in the district and this month's FEC public reporting. We still have a way to go before my public filing at the end of the month, but because of so many of you, I’m feeling more confident we will have a strong showing for that FEC report.
If you haven’t had a chance to donate, you still can here.
Second, I’ve been brought back to serve on the Foreign Affairs Committee — and after last week’s episode in the Oval Office, I return emboldened to continue to protect democracy both here and abroad.
If you missed it — President Trump, Vice President Vance, and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy met in the Oval Office on Friday. Like many of you, I watched the coverage in disbelief of the spectacle. Our American leadership was acting like two schoolyard bullies. They looked into the eyes of President Zelenskyy as his country continued to fight for freedom from tyranny and berated him to say “thank you.”
Our nation ended the week less safe due to our President’s unjustifiable and disgraceful behavior.
The Foreign Affairs Committee is responsible for oversight and legislation relating to foreign assistance. Just like with my role on the Appropriations Committee, I plan to use every inch of my position to defend our Democratic values and advocate support for our Democratic allies.
We must not abandon Ukraine.
More soon,
Madeleine
