Why this is so important, and why I’m glad you’re here. //

Friend,

I have the great privilege of connecting to Canadians every day. And everywhere I go, people tell me they’re feeling uncertain about the future. That’s why I’m determined to fight for solutions that make life more affordable for families, and protect our environment for our kids and grandkids.

I’m fighting for workers who are facing layoffs and aren’t sure how they’re going to make ends meet. For young families who are struggling to pay off their student loans while trying to support their aging parents. For people who are facing the impossible choice of putting food on the table every night or paying for their prescriptions each month.

And I’m fighting for the kind of bold, immediate action we need if we’re going to tackle the climate crisis in time.

I’d love for you to hear why I’m so passionate about fighting for what matters:

Victory Speech Video

Since 2015, the Liberals have shown Canadians whose side they’re really on. They promised to help everyday Canadians – but we’ve been asked to wait over and over for the things that they promised us, while life gets harder for families. They’ve made it clear their ultra-rich friends are their priority.

Why else would they refuse to close tax loopholes, give huge subsidies to the big cell and internet companies that are gouging Canadians, and fight so hard for their friends at Loblaws and SNC-Lavalin – all while ignoring the housing crisis, the threat of climate change, and the skyrocketing price of prescriptions?

And we know the Conservatives aren’t the answer either – their policies put us in this position in the first place. While New Democrats are working hard to provide affordable housing and pharmacare for all so everyone can afford a good life, it’s clear the other parties aren’t interested in doing their part.

We need leaders who will fight for everyday people, and who will stand up to ultra-rich insiders and big corporations.

I’m so glad you’ve joined us in the fight. Check out our first campaign ad, and see what we’re talking about:

Jagmeet Singh
Leader
Canada’s NDP

Growing up in St. John's and later Windsor, Jagmeet Singh learned to stand up for himself and for others at a young age. His mother used to tell him, ‘when we lift each other up, we all rise' – something he put into practice as a community activist, lawyer, and MPP, where he fought against carding and other forms of inequality. Now MP for Burnaby South and Leader of Canada's NDP, Jagmeet is fighting for solutions that will make a difference for everyday people. When he's not on the road or in the House, Jagmeet loves to joke around with his brother Gurratan (“the funny one"), sneak in a quick surf, or spend time with his wife Gurkiran at their home in Burnaby.
