Our loved ones who are battling cancer, veterans who dedicated their lives to military service and children with a disability deserve care - not cruelty. No matter how much money we have or where we come from, our lives should not be sacrificed to pay for tax breaks and handouts for greedy corporations and billionaires.

But last week, House Republicans voted to advance Trump’s “Billionaires First” budget – a cruel plan that will rob our families and loved ones of essential, life saving health care. They want to gut programs like Medicaid and Medicare, food assistance and education to fund ginormous tax breaks and handouts for the ultra rich.

The Republican budget plan is not just numbers on a page—people will die, children will go hungry, and families will suffer so billionaires can get richer.

But Californians are fighting back and we can still do something about it. You can take action now by emailing your representatives.

In less than 48 hours, thousands of We Are California members like you emailed your representatives, called and jammed up their office phones and rallied outside key congressional offices in Bakersfield, San Diego and Orange County.

The fight isn't over: We need to keep up the pressure to demand our representatives protect our healthcare, not billionaires.

But we are not. When we come together, we have the most power. Fired federal workers are fighting back. Students are walking out against family separation. The Senate and House must now reconcile their budgets, and legislative committees will define the cuts. This means we have more opportunities to engage, pressure lawmakers, and stop these devastating policies before they become law.

Lifeline health care programs for seniors, children, veterans and people with disabilities—ripped away to give billionaires more money.
School lunches and food aid for struggling families—gone, while the uber rich cash in.
Nursing care for seniors and people with long-term illnesses—stripped away, forcing families to choose between work and caring for loved ones.
More money for family separation and racial profiling—while cutting our access to basic necessities.
More out-of-pocket costs for working families—forcing us to pay more for health care, food, and schools so the ultra-rich can hoard even more wealth.
