TELL CONGRESS TO STOP THE MUSK TAKEOVER
Elon Musk, the richest man in the world and an unelected Trump oligarch who got
rich from federal government contracts and rules, is running from one government
agency to the next slashing thousands of jobs, cutting funding, threatening
staff, and gaining access to our most sensitive data for his own financial
benefit. EPA, Energy, Interior, Treasury — no department is safe.
Congress — not the president, and certainly not the unelected Musk — holds the
power of the purse. They can take action to stop these illegal overreaches. But
to make it happen, we need to make our voices heard. Send a message to your members of Congress urging them to take their power back and stop Trump and Musk from dismantling our democracy and the vital work of the federal government >> [link removed] TAKE ACTION NOW >> [link removed] It’s hard to be surprised by anything anymore, Friend, but this is
legitimately shocking. Elon Musk, the richest man in the world and an unelected Trump oligarch, is
running from one government agency to the next slashing thousands of jobs,
cutting funding, threatening staff, and gaining access to our most sensitive
data for his own benefit. EPA, Energy, Interior, Treasury — no department is
safe. It is wrong, it is extreme, and it is ILLEGAL. Court rulings have put some of
the worst cuts and firings on hold — for now — but Musk and Trump have already
demonstrated they might ignore the courts’ rulings and do whatever they want.
They want us to think their takeover is inevitable, and there is no way to fight
back. But there is. Tell Congress — they have the power to stop Musk and Trump’s illegal action. Sign the petition and urge Congress to take back their power of the purse and stop this dismantling of vital government work. [link removed] The Trump administration is stealing taxpayer dollars and services from
communities to pay for tax cuts for billionaires and corporations that backed
their campaign. This is not what people across our country voted for. Elon Musk is not an elected official — and he is exerting unilateral power over
decisions that further enrich him and his cronies.President Trump and his allies are betraying the promises he made to the people
of this country, and they are just getting started. Trump and Musk are flouting the law and recklessly dismantling long-standing
institutions meant to protect the health and safety of all communities. A prime example is the EPA’s office of Environmental Justice. They placed 168 members from that office on administrative leave and then
illegally fired them. This is the first step toward the administration’s goal of
dismantling environmental justice work altogether. At its core, environmental justice is about ensuring that everyone experiences a
fair share of environmental benefits and protections — no matter their race,
income, zip code, or national origin. No environmental justice work at EPA would
mean that polluting factories could poison low income communities without
enforcement of clean air and water laws. It would mean toxic waste sites, which
have been concentrated in communities of color and of low wealth that polluters
knew they’d have more power over. More people getting sick and dying from
asthma, more kids with lead poisoning. We need to stop it from happening. We can do that, Friend, by urging Congress to take their power back. They have the constitutional authority to allocate funds to the government; massive funding and staff changes have to go through them. Tell your member of Congress to stop these cuts.
