John, After spending several days in Washington last week, I sadly have no illusion about what kind of partnership we can expect from this administration. They have spread chaos through actions that have the potential to cut jobs, raise prices, and stifle economic growth. Federal public servants and contractors are being directly impacted and, according to Axios, Maryland has the highest share of federal employment in the country. As Maryland’s Governor, I take this moment seriously. Our state is home to more than 160,000 federal workers, and the Moore-Miller Administration is prepared to do whatever we can to help Maryland families who are impacted by the recent actions of the federal government. That is why we’re rolling out a plan to help displaced federal workers find state and local jobs across Maryland. We’re streamlining recruitment and hiring processes, developing plans to fill needed teaching jobs for those looking for second careers, and launching websites to connect displaced workers with new jobs in the private sector. As always, we’re prepared to do what it takes to make sure Maryland continues to grow and lead the nation. Together, we’re making this Maryland’s decade — and I’m glad you’re with us along the way.
