Friend – before I ever thought of running for the United States Senate, I got my degree at a public university. I later became a preschool teacher, taught a class at a community college, and served on my local school board.

I know the difference a good public education can make in somebody’s life, and I take my role in the Senate to ensure every student, in every corner of our country, has access to a quality, public education very seriously. 

But Trump, Musk, and his nominee for Education Secretary, Linda McMahon, are putting that all at risk. They want to gut public education and abolish the entire Department of Education.  

With McMahon’s confirmation vote happening in just HOURS, I need your help to fight back. Sign my petition now to demand the Senate reject her confirmation.

Public schools everywhere, especially in rural and low-income communities, rely on the Department of Education for crucial support in so many ways. If McMahon gets her way, support for students with disabilities would be upended. Federal aid for students pursuing a higher education could be cut off. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! 

The American people – our students, teachers, and parents – deserve a Secretary of Education who actually believes in and wants to protect our public education system. Not someone who’s ready to do Trump’s bidding and cut it to shreds.
