John, Most of us know at least one person affected by cancer. And most of us support the goal of finding a cure for these horrific diseases. What you might not know is that the world’s largest funder of cancer research is the National Institutes of Health (NIH) — which Trump and Musk have targeted for massive cuts. There’s a lot of breaking news every day, but the MAGA plan to gut lifesaving research on cancer, Alzheimer’s and diabetes is immoral and disgraceful. We need to force every elected official, regardless of party, to be on the record condemning or defending these cuts. And if you’re willing, add a personal note about why you support research for cancer, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, and other conditions that have touched so many of our lives. Sharing your story gives fuel to Emily and other House Democrats to speak out LOUDLY on this issue. The more noise we make, the more Republicans who claim to want to “make America healthy again” will be forced to go on the record. For now, many of the NIH cuts have been halted by a federal judge, and hospitals and medical professionals are sounding the alarm. Let’s join them and make sure NOBODY can avoid this.
