When I was first running for Congress in 2022, I promised the people of Colorado I would always tell them the truth, even when the truth is upsetting and difficult.

So here’s the truth: our country is facing unprecedented challenges.

Since taking office, Donald Trump has attempted to freeze federal spending for critical services that millions of Americans rely on, including food assistance, support for child care, home heating in the dead of winter, mental health services, and so much more.

He has announced his intention to overrule the Constitution and end birthright citizenship, a well-established principle of the 14th Amendment.

He has sided with corrupt dictators over America’s democratic allies.

And he has given unprecedented power to an unelected billionaire — a billionaire who is hell-bent on gutting Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security for his own personal gain.

Since Donald Trump took office, I’ve heard from so many Coloradans who are upset and angry with the direction our country is headed. Many have asked me what actions Democrats have taken to put a stop to this recklessness — so I wanted to take a moment to share with you more about what my colleagues and I have been doing to fight back.

Across the country, Democratic state attorneys general have filed multiple lawsuits against Trump’s illegal efforts. Thanks to these roadblocks, Trump’s plans to indefinitely freeze federal spending, attacks on transgender Americans, and plans to end birthright citizenship have been paused.

In Congress, Democrats have introduced multiple bills to stop Trump’s unlawful acts and I'm going to continue to do everything I can to put a check on Trump's power.

And despite all we need to fight back against, I’m also continuing to put forward positive solutions to help communities across the country. In the last few weeks, I helped introduce the Medicaid Primary Care Improvement Act to help families on Medicaid access the care they need and the BABES Act to make it easier for moms to travel with breast milk on airplanes.

We know that Trump’s priorities are unpopular. The American people do not support gutting Medicaid and Social Security. They do not support dramatically raising costs through reckless tariffs. And they do not support unelected billionaires destroying the basic functions of government. But they do want people fighting to lower costs, to protect programs that people rely on, and to make life easier and safer for our communities.

Although these are difficult times, we can’t afford to sit on the sidelines and give up. We have to continue taking action — because there is still plenty of good to hope for in the future. We’ve stopped Trump’s extreme plans before, we’ve made real change before, and with your help, we can do it again.

In Congress, I’m working every day to push back against Trump’s extremism and get our country back on track. If that’s a mission you can get behind, I’d be grateful to have your support. There are a lot of big fights ahead of us, and I need this entire team behind me more than ever.
