Friend --
We need your help
TODAY to freeze rents in LA County in the wake of the recent
devastating wildfires.
South Los Angeles Assembly
Member Isaac Bryan has introduced Assembly Bill 246, which would
establish a temporary freeze on rent increases in LA County during
this crisis period. The
bill is scheduled for a critical vote in the Assembly Judiciary
Committee TOMORROW MORNING (Tuesday, March 4th).
Why This
Matters:
- Rents in LA County were
already unaffordable BEFORE the fires
- The wildfires have destroyed
housing and created even more competition for remaining units
- Without a freeze, landlords
can exploit the disaster by hiking rents to unaffordable levels
- Families are facing
impossible choices between temporary housing, rebuilding, and covering
basic needs

Calling
Script:
"Hi, I am calling to
urge Assemblymember [LEGISLATOR NAME] to vote YES on Assemblymember
Isaac Bryan's bill for a temporary rent freeze in LA County following
the recent devastating fires - Assembly Bill 246.
Rents were already
sky-high before the fires. The high cost of living is ridiculous
compared to incomes, and housing is a big part of this
problem.
In LA County, the fires
have made a dire housing crisis even worse, with more people competing
for even fewer housing options. Too many landlords will take advantage
of this situation and make a bad situation worse. Now is not the time
to be raising the cost of rental homes even higher!"
