We recently had one of our first blockbuster hearings in the Appropriations Committee and I spoke about an issue that is near and dear to my heart: special ed funding.

As you know, Donald Trump and Elon Musk are hell bent on shutting down the Department of Education and that includes massive cuts to special education funding.

My brother received special ed services growing up and I had a front-row seat to the opportunities these amazing teachers gave to him. This fight is incredibly personal for me.

Special ed funding helps schools provide the best education possible to all students, regardless of ability. If this program is cut, millions of kids with special needs will be left behind. It’s that dire.

If you’ve ever spoken to a parent of a child with special needs you know how passionate they are about their kid’s education. Cutting this funding makes NO sense.
