Anchorage Health Department seeking RFPs for Outreach & Referral Services To Unsheltered Individuals Experiencing Homelessness
On April 28, 2020, the Anchorage Assembly approved budget revisions that include funds to support outreach services for unsheltered individuals. With the new funding made available, the Anchorage Health Department (AHD) is seeking outreach services to include:
- Canvasing to engage with unsheltered individuals (clients)
- Establishing relationships with clients in a manner enabling outreach staff to make relevant referrals
- Enrolling clients into a program
- Entering client data into the Alaska Homeless Management Information System (AK HMIS)
- To the degree possible, transitioning clients into the larger shelter and permanent housing systems within Anchorage
Additionally, AHD would like providers to provide public health messaging and personal health supplies (such as masks, hand sanitizer, etc.). Outreach staff must also coordinate with the Anchorage Coalition to End Homelessness (ACEH) and through them, various Municipal departments, such as AHD, the Anchorage Police Department (Community Action Policing team and Mobile Intervention Team), and Anchorage Fire Department, as well as other entities driven by client need. The contract is intended to begin in July 2020 and conclude by December 31, 2020. AHD hopes this short-term infusion of resources will provide a valid demonstration period, with possible future funding opportunities for successful programs.

Thank you Anchorage for supporting efforts to solve homelessness! In these uncertain times, we need to ensure more than ever that we keep our friends and neighbors safe, healthy and housed. It takes the whole community to make Anchorage safe and your support of Proposition 13 will provide much needed funding for shelters that protect women & children, mental health resources and programs to make progress towards making homelessness rare, brief and one-time. We appreciate your support!
