March is Women’s HERstory Month - a time set aside to highlight the past accomplishments, present successes, and future potential of women! I’m grateful to live in Maryland, a state that has a rich history of women leading the way - and I’m thrilled that we continue to break barriers and shatter glass ceilings today, ensuring that my daughter and all young girls can see themselves in our leadership across the state in every sector.
Maryland has a rich history of trailblazing women in elected office – from Barbara Mikulski and Verda Welcome to Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Adrienne Jones, Aruna Miller, and Angela Alsobrooks.

These women - and all Marylanders who support them - understand that we all do better when women do better. We know that families, communities, and businesses all thrive when women have a seat at the table, and I don’t mean just one seat. Right now, we are unfortunately living in a time when our rights are constantly being challenged, and our contributions questioned. I will continue to insist that we make space for women in every room because that ensures greater resilience, success, and prosperity for all Marylanders.
This month, let’s celebrate the women who have broken barriers before us in every sector - from electoral politics to education to environmentalism to business to the law - and empower the next generation to dream even bigger, and go even farther.
When women rise, Maryland rises. Happy Women’s HERstory Month!
My best,

(She, Her, Hers)
