Brad Lander for NYC Mayor

John,

Today I was honored to stand alongside Erica Vladimer from the Sexual Harassment Working Group and call on Andrew Cuomo to return $28 million in taxpayer dollars he’s using for his personal legal defense, after 13 women accused him of sexual harassment.

If you agree, add your name alongside mine in calling for Andrew Cuomo to return the $28 million he owes New York State.

Many of Andrew Cuomo’s accusers were in his inner circle. In December, he and his lawyers tried to get a gag order on one of his accuser’s lawyers to prevent them from publicly discussing the $28 million in taxpayer funds. He even tried to access one accuser’s gynecological records.

Just think about what New York could do with $28 million – instead of that money going to Andrew Cuomo’s legal fees:

  • 4,500 afterschool slots
  • 1,000 NEW preK slots
  • 33,000 NEW summer youth employment slots
  • 500 domestic violence shelter beds, or
  • 1,200 supportive housing units

Andrew Cuomo cannot silence New Yorkers. We, the taxpayers, will not allow his intimidation tactics to work. We will defeat him at the ballot box – because intimidating and harassing women is NOT leadership.

Our city needs a Mayor who will lead with honesty and empathy. Who will work to deliver on the issues that really matter, not seeking vindication and abusing power. That starts by calling on Andrew Cuomo to return the $28 million he owes New Yorkers – join me today.

We can’t replace the chaos and scandal of the Adams administration with the chaos and scandal of Andrew Cuomo.

New Yorkers know that not only CAN we do better, but we deserve better.

Thank you,
