Friend,

I am writing to share an important update. We’ve teamed up with our long-time partners, the Tennessee Immigrant & Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC), to hold a seven-part training series on how to resist and respond to large-scale worksite raids.

These trainings are based in part on our and TIRRC’s experience responding to a massive workplace raid in East Tennessee in 2018. In addition to providing community support in the aftermath of this raid, NILC and partners later secured the largest and only known class settlement relating to an immigration raid on behalf of our clients, courageous Latinx workers whose rights were violated during this attack.

Now we are sharing lessons learned with organizers, labor advocates, legal professionals, and more so that we all can be prepared to protect our communities.

Friend, your support makes these trainings possible. Will you make a donation to help us expand our efforts, continue providing resources to workers and advocates, and strengthen workplace raids response networks across the country?

Here's some of what we’re covering in these trainings:

We’re helping communities prepare for raids before they happen — how to streamline communication systems, establish emergency hotlines for families, and organize response teams.

We’re training advocates on how to identify and address workplace abuses — how to recognize violations, conduct effective intakes, and liaise with state and federal agencies.

We’re equipping communities with how to respond in the aftermath of a raid — how to locate detained workers, investigate potential civil rights violations, and work with immigration attorneys on bond and deportation defense.

And friend, we’ve already had 693 community members and advocates attend our first two trainings – proof of how critical and urgent this information is.

Please consider supporting this vital work. Every donation helps us prepare our communities to respond, resist, and protect themselves during these difficult times.

Sincerely,

Jessie Hahn
