Getting to represent you every day in Washington, D.C. is one of the greatest honors of my lifetime (serving in the Army will always be #1).
With your help, we have made progress on so many important issues. We’ve passed legislation to fund clean water initiatives, we’ve strengthened care for veterans and we’ve bolstered our military forces.
So, just imagine what we could get done if everybody put aside the political games and actually worked together.
Unfortunately, too many politicians are far too focused on their reelection and wanting to be “today’s news story.” They demonize the other side and preach provocative nonsense just to draw attention to themselves.
So, I want to prove them wrong. I want to show that you can win re-election by putting your head down and working hard, instead of trying to be the center of the political feeding frenzy.
I even had someone in DC say that I should spend more time doing TV appearances because it would help me raise more money. To that, I’ve got to say: I don’t fly up to DC every week - away from my family and newborn little boy - for fundraising TV appearances. It’s to do the work that I was elected to do: pass legislation to help our waterways, veterans, economy, and military.
