These are the victims of anti-Black violence from just the last few months. And it’s an incomplete list. Too many Black people in this country have been murdered with impunity by the police -- or even bystanders. It fucking hurts. It’s devastating.

I want you to know that all of us at NextGen America see you. We hear you. We are fighting with you. We demand a better world and are working towards it. We have a responsibility to be actively anti-racist, and to fight against systems built upon white supremacy and anti-Blackness that excuse and enable police brutality and racist violence.

What are we fighting for?
- Fighting to make sure that murderers are held accountable -- even if they wear a police uniform
- Less funding for cops and more funding for COVID relief, jobs, housing, and health care for Black, Indigenous, and people of color
- Every community must address the systemic and systematic abuse and killings of Black people by police
- We need allies to step up, especially white allies. The responsibility of fighting for justice must not rest on Black shoulders

And yeah, we’re fighting for change from our elected officials -- from the top down.

We’re mourning with you -- and we’re asking you to take action right now. One concrete thing we can do, right now, to fight for justice for George Floyd: We’re asking you to write to Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and demand that he strip the officers who murdered George Floyd of their pensions and ban them from serving as officers in the future. It’s not everything. But it’s a step.
