Governor DeWine Appoints Barr to
Canton Municipal Court
(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today announced the appointment of Dennis Barr to the Canton Municipal Court.
Barr, of Canton, will assume office on March 10, 2025, and will be taking the seat formerly held by Judge Curt Werren, whom Governor DeWine appointed [ [link removed] ] to the Stark County Court of Common Pleas, Probate Division on January 10, 2025. Barr will serve the remainder of the unfinished term and will need to run for election in November 2025 to retain the seat.
Barr began is law career in January 1985 as a practicing attorney for the Samuel J. Ferruccio Law Firm in Canton. In July 1985, joined the Hardin County Prosecutor's Office as an attorney and later became the prosecuting attorney from 1987 to 1988. In January 1989, Barr joined the Stark County Prosecutor's Office where he currently serves as the chief of the criminal division.
In 1981, Barr received a bachelor's degree in history from Ohio Northern University. He received his juris doctorate from Ohio Northern University Petit College of Law in 1984.
