Hello Friend,
Welcome to my e-newsletter, the Ready Room. As a retired Naval Aviator, the Ready Room is special to me because it’s where fellow aviators meet to brief and debrief missions. This is my weekly briefing to you on my mission in Congress. Please follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube for regular updates on how my team and I are working to serve you in Congress.
ROOTING OUT WASTE, FRAUD AND ABUSE
Last week, I eagerly supported the FY25 budget resolution, which paves the way for passage of one comprehensive bill that delivers on President Trump's America First agenda. This important measure would reduce our deficit by $2 trillion by instructing House Committees to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse in federal spending, bolster border security, invest in national defense and restore American energy independence. It would also extend the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, preventing record tax hikes and ensuring families and small businesses keep more of their hard-earned money.
This critical budget resolution will lead us toward a stronger, safer and more prosperous America. I urge the Senate to work with the House to pass this plan on behalf of the American people. Click here to learn more.
CO-CHAIRING THE 2025 CONGRESSIONAL ART COMPETITION
I am honored to serve as co-chair of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition to help showcase the incredible talent of budding young artists from across the country. This competition provides a one-of-a-kind platform to highlight local talent by displaying their work in the U.S. Capitol, forming one of the most visited art exhibits in the nation. I encourage all eligible students to participate, and I look forward to seeing the inspiring artwork that will soon decorate the walls of the People’s House. CONSTITUENT CORNER
It was a privilege to present my friend and fellow Navy veteran, Mr. Leonard Nichols, with a letter from President Trump on his 100th birthday last week. Leonard’s service in the South Pacific during WWII aboard the U.S. Luna & U.S.A.T. St. Maihil is a fascinating tale of strength and resilience. It was heartwarming to join so many members of the Glades County community to celebrate his milestone.
