Right now, negotiations over the HEROES Act are being held between the
House, the Senate, and the White House.

We can’t
risk losing the provisions we fought for in the House. If the bill fails,
we have to go back to square one, leaving millions of nurses and health
care workers in danger without the PPE they need. Sen. Chuck Schumer and
Sen. Lamar Alexander could be the votes that change everything.

We have been working so hard to get nurses what they need to stay safe on
the frontline as they are working long hours, risking their lives every
day. This is a bill that could make real change — but we need to pressure
these leaders in the Senate to get it passed.

Sen. Alexander to ask them to fight for the protections nurses need during
negotiations.

Here are the critical aspects in the bill that we need to see passed:

* Ensuring nurses and health care workers have sufficient supplies of
personal protective equipment (PPE) by ordering mass production under
the Defense Production Act, as well as creating new systems and a new
federal coordinator position for the reporting, transparency, and
coordination of the PPE supply chain.
* Implementing an emergency temporary national standard by OSHA on
infectious diseases to protect workers.

This is our chance to finally win these protections for nurses in our
broken health care system — so the stakes are higher than ever. That’s why
we need as many of you to call on these senators to ensure these
provisions are included in the final agreement.

We were able to win in the House, and we know we can do it again in the
Senate if we come together and tell these senators that we the people
demand they help nurses.

This is how you can do your part in this fight right now to get nurses the
protections they need. [ [link removed] ]Take a moment of your time to tweet at Sen.
Schumer and Sen. Alexander NOW to make sure they stand up to support
nurses during negotiations.

Thank you for helping bring these protections across the finish line,

National Nurses United
