March 3, 2025

Dear Georgian,

Last week, the House passed the House Budget Resolution, which contains budgetary instructions for committees to produce legislation that ensures tax relief for working families and small businesses, reins in reckless federal spending, unleashes energy dominance and makes America safe again.

I voted in support of this legislation, which starts the process of extending and expanding the historic policies under President Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) paired with reasonable reductions in government spending. Extending and expanding the TCJA will save the average family and taxpayer thousands of dollars each year.

It is important to remember that the passage of this resolution is simply the first procedural step in the budget reconciliation process, serving as a framework for House Committees to identify better investments and more savings within their jurisdictions.

As always, my staff and I are here to help. If you need assistance with a federal agency or have comments or concerns to share with me, please do not hesitate to call my Warner Robins, Tifton, or Washington, D.C. offices. I encourage you to visit my website, like my Facebook page, follow me on YouTube, and follow me on X.

Sincerely,

Meeting with Monroe County Friends and Commissioners

It was great to meet with friends from Monroe County in my D.C. office last week, including Commissioners Davis and Rowland!

We had a productive conversation about future economic development and infrastructure in Monroe County.

Meeting with UGA's College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences

I also met with Nick Place, the Dean of UGA's College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Under his leadership, the University of Georgia continues to provide critical education and resources for our state's number one industry and the core of our rural communities.

We discussed the university's priorities and needs from this Congress and how I can support them as the Vice Chair of the House Agriculture Committee.

Meeting with the Council of Producers and Distributors of Agrotechnology

Representatives from the Council of Producers and Distributors of Agrotechnology (CPDA) also stopped by my office to discuss developments in the industry and their priorities for the Farm Bill.

They advocate for over 90% of the U.S. crop protection market, including CJB Applied Technologies based in Valdosta, who also had representatives attending the meeting.

Fox News | Trump budget bill extending first-term tax cuts survives House vote

"The House of Representatives has adopted a resolution that will eventually become a massive multi-trillion-dollar bill full of President Donald Trump's priorities on the border, defense, energy and taxes.

In a major victory for House GOP leaders, the resolution passed in a 217 to 215 vote.

All Democrats voted against the measure, along with lone Republican rebel Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., who was concerned about its effect on the national deficit.

The next step is now for the relevant House committees to meet and build their own proposals, which will eventually be returned into the framework and negotiated into a compromise deal with the Senate."
