John,
Here's the bad news: It's clear the Supreme Court isn't going to defend LGBTQ+ equality. State representatives in three states - Idaho, Montana, and Michigan - have called for the courts to reexamine Obergefell. And right now, more than half of the U.S. states have outdated bans that would immediately go into effect after a ruling.
But here's the good news: we've been electing LGBTQ+ candidates who are fighting to defend love. The candidates we elected in California, Colorado and Hawaii successfully placed marriage equality on the ballot last year - and successfully protected love! In Virginia, State Sen. Adam Ebbin and Del. Rozia Henson are working to repeal the amendment stating that marriage is between a man and a woman, and instead, enshrine same-sex and interracial marriage in the Virginia Constitution.
This is HUGE progress, and we have to keep the momentum going. We can expand pro-equality majorities in state legislatures around the country and ensure the LGBTQ+ leaders fighting for us are elected. Our candidates are ready to repeal outdated trigger bans on LGBTQ+ rights and reproductive freedom. Donate today to ensure pro-choice LGBTQ+ candidates WIN and stop the Supreme Court from rolling back our rights!
Thanks for fighting back,
Candace Silver
