We are excited to invite you to OCA’s National Convention in Seattle, WA!
This year’s theme, "Passage to Seattle: From AYPE 1909 to AANHPI Rising 2025," reflects our commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders while recognizing the pivotal role college campuses, like the University of Washington, have played in historic civil rights movements—places where past and present intersect to shape the future.

The theme draws inspiration from the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition (AYPE), a world’s fair that took place on the University of Washington’s campus in 1909. While AYPE sought to foster cultural exchange, it also reflected the exclusionary attitudes of its time, perpetuating harmful stereotypes and marginalizing communities. Now, over a century later, we return to this historic site to acknowledge its past, confront injustices, and build a future rooted in inclusion, justice, and equity.
This year’s convention will bring together students, professionals, thought leaders, and community members for interactive workshops, thought-provoking discussions, and engaging activities. College campuses have long been catalysts for transformative movements, and our gathering at the University of Washington—home to the top-ranked American Ethnic Studies undergraduate program in the Pacific Northwest ([link removed]*%20We%20are%20the%20top%20American,people%2C%20cultures%2C%20and%20our%20contributions%20to%20society) —continues that legacy.
