Dear Friend, [[link removed]]
Happy Women’s History Month!
I’m honored to represent Massachusetts in Congress alongside incredible women leaders—Whip Clark, Congresswoman Pressley, and Senator Warren. And I’m proud to live in a state led by two powerhouse women, Governor Healey and Lt. Governor Driscoll, who are working every day to make life better for families across our Commonwealth.
Massachusetts has always been at the forefront of women’s history. We’re home to suffragette Susan B. Anthony, Red Cross founder Clara Barton, and the legacy of thousands of "Mill Girls" from Lowell and beyond who helped industrialize the country. It was here that Abigail Adams urged her husband to “Remember the Ladies”—and centuries later, Massachusetts remains a leader in women’s rights.
My own election marked a historic moment when a Congressional seat was passed from one woman to another as I succeeded Congresswoman Niki Tsongas, the first woman to represent our state on Capitol Hill in 25 years.
But we know that progress is never guaranteed. Over the past few years, we’ve seen relentless attacks on women’s rights. Like so many of you, I was outraged when the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, stripping women of the right to make decisions about our own bodies. And as an IVF mom, I was horrified when Republicans chose to demonize fertility treatments—lifesaving care that has helped millions of families, including mine.
Now, just weeks into this new administration, Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and the GOP are already working to roll back our rights and silence our voices. They want us to give up. They want us to back down.
But that’s exactly why we never will.
I’m proud to stand with you in the fight for reproductive freedom, for access to family planning—from IUDs to IVF—and for a government that truly represents us. I will never stop fighting, and I know you won’t either.
With you always,
Congresswoman Lori Trahan
