Obesity Care Week (OCW) 2025 is here, and obesity continues to be one of the most stigmatized diseases, with millions facing barriers to proper care. Access to affordable, quality treatment is essential—but too often, it’s out of reach.

As a proud Founding Champion of OCW, the Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) is committed to changing the way we care for and about obesity. This week, let’s stand together to raise awareness, challenge stigma and advocate for access to quality care.

OCW is kicking off today with a special session at 12 PM EST featuring Joseph Nadglowski, OAC's President and CEO; and Nikki Massie, MA, OAC Board Chairperson.

The session will serve as a key opportunity to introduce obesity as a chronic disease and explore the current landscape of coverage for comprehensive obesity treatments. We'll also dive into important regulatory and legislative developments on the horizon. This is a must-attend for anyone looking to build a strong foundation in obesity care and advocacy!

Ways to Get Involved

Last year, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) proposed expanding coverage for obesity medications under Medicare and Medicaid. Thousands of advocates supported this change during the Public Comment period, and CMS is now reviewing those comments, with a finalized rule expected in April.

Take action during OCW by sending a letter to President Trump, urging him to support CMS in expanding coverage for obesity medications. Let’s drive lasting change together!
