President Trump just announced that the U.S. is officially leaving the World Health Organization during the middle of a pandemic.

I couldn't believe this when I read it either, folks. There's so much that could be said about this massive mistake, but I can only think of one word that describes it best:

Stupid.

The WHO isn't without its flaws, but it's the backbone of the entire world's public health and pandemic response infrastructure. The U.S. leaving it entirely at any time would be bad -- but leaving it during a global pandemic is lunacy.
