Passed Two Bills in the House

This week, two of my bills passed the House with full bipartisan support. The Assisting Small Businesses Not Fraudsters Act will hold fraudsters accountable by ensuring those convicted of financial crimes related to COVID-19 loans cannot receive future financial assistance from the SBA. The Small Business Advocacy Improvements Act allows the SBA’s Office of Advocacy to speak on behalf of American small businesses when discussing trade or regulatory initiatives that may impact small businesses with foreign governments. These bipartisan bills are just the first steps we will take in the 119th Congress to drive meaningful change and unleash the golden age of small businesses.

Introduced CTE Legislation

As we enter the Golden Age of America, Main Street is in critical need of skilled workers. Plumbers, electricians, mechanics, and countless others are the backbone of our economy, and without them, the American people would not have the critical goods and services that we often take for granted. I am proud to lead the charge in Congress encouraging more young people to pursue valuable CTE professions and assist graduates in translating their skills into the workforce. I introduced the Student Debt Alternative and CTE Awareness Act and the Connecting Small Businesses with Career and Technical Education Graduates Act of 2025. These bipartisan bills will give American students and workers the tools they need to succeed.

Introduced the China Financial Threat Mitigation Act of 2025

As the threat of the Chinese Communist Party’s interference and aggression continues to rise, our financial systems must be prepared to proactively stop any wrongdoing by the CCP. As your Representative in Congress, I am committed to protecting American values. I introduced the China Financial Threat Mitigation Act of 2025 to assess potential risks, evaluate current U.S. government policies, and recommend actions to mitigate financial stability threats stemming from China. Watch my line of questioning at Tuesday’s Financial Services Committee hearing.

House Committee on Small Business

This week, I led a committee hearing on Fostering American Innovation and examining Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. For over four decades, SBIR and STTR programs have fueled American innovation by providing early-stage funding to small businesses, allowing them to develop cutting-edge technologies that strengthen our economy and support our military. From lifesaving medical advancements to next generation defense capabilities, these programs have empowered Main Street to turn ideas into reality for the government and private sector. Watch my opening statement here.

In Case You Missed It!

The SBA went rogue under Joe Biden, undermining trust and failing its duty to the American people. As Chairman of the House Committee on Small Business, I am proud to work alongside SBA Administrator Loeffler to Make Main Street Great Again! I joined Fox Business and NewsNation to discuss.

In God we trust,

Roger Williams

Member of Congress
