Hi there,

Just over one year ago, I was sworn back into Congress after winning the special election.

When a new member is sworn after a special election, they get to address all of their House colleagues in the chamber. Even though a year has passed, the message of my speech still resonates. You can watch the full remarks here.

I said to my colleagues that:

“I'm a true blue dyed in the wool Democrat. But more importantly…I'm a true blue, dyed in the wool American. Like any patriot of the greatest country on earth, I'm willing to compromise to try and solve problems.”

While the Presidency has changed hands since I delivered those remarks, they still remain true. I will work with President Trump and Republicans when it makes sense, but I’ll also fight back when I have to. For example, while I’m chair of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, I also have led efforts to push back against Elon Musk and his unvetted DOGE staffers accessing your private taxpayer data.

In short, I’ll work with anyone, of any party, who genuinely wants to make things better for people, but I’ll never sacrifice my values.

So, I wanted to thank you for being a part of my campaign and assure you that I’ll continue that approach to governing, no matter what comes ahead.
