John,

We’ve never seen such a failure of leadership. With over 100,000 Americans dead, 40 million out of work, and no plan for leading our country through this crisis, Donald Trump is now trying to change the subject. He’s tweeting about China, Barack Obama, fake murder accusations, and his outrage about Twitter finally fact-checking some of his lies.

Meanwhile, Democrats in the House are focused on what we all know is the biggest public health and economic challenge of our lifetimes — and the need to rescue our country from Trump’s colossal ineptitude. Taking “a pause” in the face of this crisis, as Trump and Mitch McConnell have suggested, is not an option. We’re committed to doing everything we can to confront the pandemic and provide critical health care and economic relief to frontline workers and struggling American families.

Sometimes it seems like we’re the only thing standing in the way of complete and utter disaster. Which is why we have to make sure we hold on to our House majority.

With less than six months until Election Day, our campaign needs to end this month strong.

Right now, there are roughly 400 House bills sitting on Mitch McConnell’s desk, from climate protection to securing our elections to expanding health care. But McConnell has said the Senate is not going to pass any of them.

The most urgent bill he's blocking is the Heroes Act, which will provide $3 trillion in relief to frontline workers, families and state and local governments who are reeling from the costs of the pandemic even as they are expected to help reopen our nation safely. But Sen. McConnell is mocking our bill as “aspirational”, as if saving lives and preventing economic collapse is a mere aspiration — rather than a sacred responsibility we owe to our fellow Americans.

Every time we try to work with Republicans to get these bills passed, we hit a wall. But that hasn’t stopped us from continuing to push legislation to help American families, and pressure is building on congressional Republicans. If we keep pushing—and especially if we expand our majority—we will succeed.

You can help us do that with a donation right now, before the May 31 deadline. Let’s make a strong showing and prove to Donald Trump and the GOP that we’re going to keep up the fight.
