Thank you for making Act for Survival 2025 one of the most impactful weeks of action in the last year. During this time, our supporters sent over 12,000 emails in support of our Indigenous partners all over the world and dozens attended protests in London, New York, Paris and Berlin.

Fifty six years ago, the UK’s Sunday Times Magazine shocked the world when it published Norman Lewis’ article ‘Genocide,’ exposing the countless atrocities inflicted on the Indigenous peoples of the Amazon. In response, a group of activists decided to found Survival International, to try to prevent these abuses from happening again.

We started Act for Survival last year as a way to commemorate Survival’s founding. Over several decades, our movement has had hundreds of thousands of supporters worldwide who back our campaigns through actions and donations.

Today, we’re asking you to give us our gift of independence. Survival rejects all government funding to maintain our integrity and freedom to speak out alongside Indigenous people and support their struggles. It means we’re free to campaign without fear against the governments and big conservation corporations responsible for the kinds of conservation abuses we’ve been highlighting this week.

But it means we depend on donations from the public – from supporters like you.
